Conformity, is the act of matching attitudes and behaviors to group norms. Norms are unspoken unstated rules shared by a group of individuals that guide their interactions with others.  

Conformity can be harmful when an individual in the group under influence starts bullying, teasing and criticizing other people. As a result, it can bring negativity in the environment and can be harmful. Whilst conformity can be beneficial, if a person focuses in setting a social standard for example, handshakes, dressing appropriately, respecting the other person’s personal space. The person would be conforming to these social norms and will bring out positivity.
