Dry ice is the solid form of carbon dioxide (CO2) with a temperature of -78.5C. The unique feature of dry ice is that it undergoes sublimation i.e. it turns directly into gas i.e. gaseous CO2 from the solid form.
It is composed of carbon (C) and oxygen (O). C is the first element in Group 14 while O is the first element in group 16 of the periodic table. Both carbon and oxygen are non-metals.
Ans: With the non-metals
The elements that made up this dry ice are;
Carbon ( found in group 14)
Oxygen.( found in group 16)
Hence, found with non-metals.
- Dry ice can be regarded as compound with chemical formula CO2 and its is in solid form.
- It contains Carbon which is among the group 14 elements as well as Oxygen which is among group 16 and they are all non metals.
Therefore, it a solid compound that can turn to gas without passing through liquid state.
