England is a constitutional monarchy. While it has a king or queen, the true power is held by the Parliament. The Netherlands is a republic which was formed by the northern provinces in the Dutch kingdom authorized by the king at the time. Unlike the British, the Dutch monarchy is part of the government of Netherlands and has real functions and powers.
