On the third day after Ahab finally sights Moby Di.ck, the great whale attacks the boat. Moby Di.ck rams the Pequod and sinks it. Afterwards, Ahab is caught in a harpoon line, resulting in his death. The sinking ship creates a vortex which begins sucking in everything that surrounds it, including the remaining whaleboats and men. The only survivor of this catastrophe is Ishmael.

We can actually see that what caused the Pequod to sink is the Tashtego that fell into the whale's voluminous head.

What is Pequod?

In Herman Melville's book, the Pequod is actually known to be a fictional Nantucket whaling ship. It was seen the 1851 novel that was written by Herman Melville, an American author.

We can see here that Pequod sinks as a result of the Tashtego that fell into the head of the whale.
