Consider the order of organs in the digestive system and their positions in the body. Why do you think digestion is more efficient if you are sitting up, rather than slumped over or lying down?

The order of the organs is:

Mouth, stomach, small intestines, large intestines


The food is flowing downwards so if you are standing up, it is more easier for the food to travel compared to when you are slumped over or lying down.
