direct variation normally means like what is similar between two points aka like what's a common formula or distance between two points on a linear line/ straight line.

so in most ways you come to have to solve this is slope intercept.

pretend you had two points (3,2) and (4, 8) you would use point intercept formula first.

8 + 2 ÷ 4 - 3= 10 ÷ 1 which is 10

so 10( x - 4) + 8 = 10x - 32 is a common slope between them.

so to test this take any point like (3,2) and plug it in the problem..

10(3) -32 = 2

so x we use matches the point y we used.
