The weight, in pounds, of each package of cornbread mix -

An improper fraction is a fraction in which the numerator (top number) is greater than or equal to the denominator.

Given:

Package of cornbreads = 4

each pack weighs = x

weight of biscuit mix = x+1

total weight = 31 pounds

Solution:

The total weight = weight of all cornbread pacakges+ package of biscuit mix

=> 4x+(x+1) = 31

=> 5x+1 = 31

=> x = [tex]\frac{31-1}{5}[/tex]

=> x = [tex]\frac{30}{5}[/tex]

=> x = 6

So, the weight of cornbread package = 6 pound

The improper weight of the total weight of all packages including biscuit mix -

=> [tex]6\frac{1}{5}[/tex]
