In a package of 40 skittles, 35% were red. How many were not red?



My teacher said she got 26 but I'm puzzled and don't know how to get that.

40 skittles times the percent of red

40 * 0.35 = 14

We then take that then subtract that from the total.

40 - 14 = 26

26 skittles were red.

0.35 is equivalent to 35%
