The distance fallen as a function of time for a dropped particle is  

[tex]y = \frac 1 2 g t^2[/tex]

We have t=6 seconds, g=9.8 meters per second per second, so

[tex]y = \frac 1 2 (9.8)6^2 = 176.4[/tex]
