COINTELPRO which is short form of Counter Intelligence Program was a progression of secret, and sometimes extralegal, missions carried out by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation which went for observation, invading, undermining, and disturbing domestic political associations. COINTELPRO strategies are as yet used right up 'til today, and have been claimed to include discrediting targets.
