A corbel is a type of bracket, usually carved out of wood, that is used to hold up
shelves, counters or other horizontal surfaces.
A carpenter's apprentice begins to craft a corbel by making a cut through a block of
wood shaped like a rectangular prism with dimensions of 12 inches by 10 inches by 5
inches. The result after the first cut is shown below. All measurements are in inches.
