Opio James met Jane Nagayi and the two developed love feelings and later
started cohabiting together. Later the two love birds agreed to take their
relationship to the next level. Jane agreed to introduce Opio to his parents. Jane
introduced Opio to her aunt in a” Kukyala” ceremony at Jane Aunties place in
Ntinda. At this “Kukyala” ceremony Opio wanted to impress and he brought
various gifts among other a sofa set, fridge, a washing machine and among others
all for Jane’s parents. Jane Aunt accepted the gifts and upon Opio’s request that
the Gifts should go to Jane’s parents, Jane’s Aunt agreed and indeed delivered
the gifts to Jane’s parents. Later Opio and Jane relationship become sour as
Opio would occasionally assault Jane reminding her how he had paid enough
for her. Jane left Opio and returned back to her parents’ home. Opio was bitter
and went to Jane’s parents demanding for his gifts and he reasoned in his
culture once the wife leaves her husband, then the husband has a right to
demand for his gifts.
