Lady Macbeth has a lot of ambition and determination, as well as a strong relationship with her husband. In Act 1 Scene 5, Macbeth refers to her as 'my dearest partner of greatness' and she boasts that she can 'pour' her words of manipulation into his mind to get him do as she wishes.
However, by Act 3 their relationship has completely broken down, she disappears for a large section of the play, and ultimately kills herself. Lady Macbeth's relationship with her husband is a core consideration for anyone writing about Macbeth, or playing Lady Macbeth on stage. It is important to look at her influence and ask:
