Businesses aim to keep operating costs as low as possible so they can focus on production and profit. One way to keep operating costs down is to keep wages low. Many businesses pay their workers the minimum wage required by law. Often, workers consider this unfair and feel they should be paid more than the bare mini mum for the work they do.
