As a Medical Assistant you develop professional relationships with your patients. Some may bring you gifts for the holidays, some may see you in public and talk to you instantly, and some may even find your home phone number and call you on a rare occasion if they are having medical issues. Sharon has been working in Internal Medicine for the past 2 years. She has built great relationships with her patients and they have grown to trust her. Ed has been a patient for quite some time and had his 3 month check-up scheduled. Sharon greets him and rooms him. After she is done collecting vitals, checking medications, and getting his history she informs him the physician will be in soon. Before she exits the room, Ed starts asking her very personal and inappropriate questions about herself. They are questions that she is not comfortable discussing and does not feel his questions warrant an response. Sharon, ignores him and walks out of the room.
