Obergefell v. Hodges (2015)
In this case, the Supreme Court decided that the 14th Amendment guarantees the right to marry for same-sex couples and required
that all states recognize same-sex marriages as equally valid as opposite-sex marriages. This case overturned Baker v. Nelson, a
case that said bans on same-sex marriage were constitutional, and reversed the ruling of the lower court.
