Review the attached food dairy for Sam. Sam is a 22-year-old university student in Nova Scotia. They are
non-binary and use they/them pronouns. Originally from British Columbia they now The Mount and are
in an undergraduate professional program. They live alone in an apartment close to campus because it is
cheaper than living on resident. They take the bus to classes and work part-time to pay for their tuition.
Over the last year they have been feeling less well. They have reached out to you (the dietitian) for a
consultation to begin their wellness journey and learn more about healthy eating.
Day 1- Meals
Breakfast: 2 pieces of white toast with peanut butter, cup of
coffee with cream and 2 sugars
Thoughts/Reflection:Woke up later and did not feel like making
anything but toast.
Snack: Muffin and double double coffee from the campus
snack shop
Thoughts/Reflection: Could not stay awake in my class. Needed a
pick me up and this was the only appealing
thing in the shop that wasn’t too expensive.
Lunch: Hamburger and salad with tomatoes, lettuce, cheese
and bacon bites, topped with creamy ranch dressing.
Chocolate milk drink.
Thoughts/Reflection: Went to the cafeteria with my friends between
classes. It was nice to catch up with them.
Snack: Coffee and coconut granola bar.
Thoughts/Reflection: Between my classes.
Supper: Basmati rice. I add frozen carrots and peas to make it
a pilaf. Chicken curry made with chicken breast and a
bottle of curry sauce from the grocery store.
Thoughts/Reflection: I was in the mood for cooking but not intense
cooking, so I cut up and fried a chicken breast
added some curry sauce and did my rice pilaf.
Watched the newest episode of RuPaul’s Drag
Race will eating, texted my friend while eating
and watching the show.
Snack: A big chuck of cheese (old cheddar) and half a box of
crackers (Ritz).
Thoughts/Reflections: While reading my course textbook.
