The Ritz combination rules express relationships between observed frequencies of the optical emission spectra. Prove one of the more important ones: f(Kₐ) + f(Lₐ) = f(K/3) where Kₐ and K/3 refer to the Lyman series and La to the Balmer series of hydrogen.
