Signs and Symptoms of Complications of Vascular Access Devices.
Signs & Symptoms-
1)Catheter is leaking
2)Difficulty flushing, sluggish infusion, absent or sluggish blood return
3)Warmth, tenderness, swelling, drainage at site
4)Fever, hypotension, elevated white blood cell count, confusion, decreased urinary output
5)Swelling, coolness, blanched skin around insertion site during infusion
6)Burning or swelling around insertion site during infusion
7) Pain, tenderness, or numbness in the neck, shoulder, or arm on affected side of the body
8)Irregular heart rate or dysrhythmia (with all CVADs)
9)PICC with frequent nausea and emesis and/or frequent, severe episodes of coughing
10) Tunneled CVAD with swelling and/or burning sensation
11 Dyspnea, respiratory distress, or cyanosis
