SKETCH!!!! an effective HMI design for an operator for a process with the following properties.
- There are 5 boilers, each with its low limit, high limit, and current temperature reading. Each is measured in degrees Celsius. They are numbered 1-5 and contain Diflora, Triplana, Messini, Branic Tivio, and Umwent, respectively.
- For each boiler, there is a valve that when open fills the tank, a second valve would empty the tank, and a third valve that should be opened as a pressure relief valve. The operator can only control the third valve. That valve should be opened when the temperature gets to high to prevent an emergency.
- As the temperature rise, the fluid tends to move more quickly within the tank. There is a flowmeter within each tank to measure this rate of motion.
- The main job of the operator is to adjust rate of gas coming into the burner for each boiler to adjust the heat applied to the tank. This number is stored in the PLC system as a number from 0-1024 that represents the percentage of the maximum possible rate of incoming gas.
