Question focuses on ECONOMIC VALUE and MARKETING MYOPIA: Please Explain Thoroughly in Paragraph format or bullet points :) I WILL THUMBS UP!
Ahmadi Mkaba an International Student from Ghana is a student at Columbia University. Ahmadi is a stellar student. She has high marks in all of her courses. She is a double-major in Economics and Marketing. She is on track to complete her studies in 5-Years. In her Portfolio Economics class, Ahmadi writes a great article on "Economic Value and Marketing Myopia in the Workplace." Her professor asks her if he can work with her on fine-tuning her paper to be published in an Academic Journal.
Ahmadi is concerned that the professor may possibly use her article for his own gain and publish under his name since she does not have a PhD under her name. She has heard that many tenured professors will ask students to work with them when in fact the student will do the work and the professor will take credit. She is uncomfortable with this situation but realizes this is common practice for Academic Institutions that are research-based.
Ahmadi has a decision to make if she should work with the Professor even though she knows she will lose autonomy over her work or should she decline the Professor’s request and potentially cause a rift. She knows if she does this for the Professor, he most certainly will write her a recommendation for Graduate School and for the scholarship that will pay for her studies.
What should Ahmadi do in this situation?
