Suppose that Sto Lat has reached its steady state and it's been in it for a number of years, when suddenly one of the events listed below happens. For each one, use the Solow model diagram to show if and how the sieady state will change. Use arrows on the horizontal axis (the K axis) to indicate how capital will adjust over time. Finally, plot the time path of total capital stock and GDP per capita from before the event. Be sure to describe the immediate (short-run) effect and the long-run effect. You don't have to give numerical answers, a qualitative description will suffice (this means identifying which variables will change and the direction of change but not necessarily telling me how much they will change). 4. Cheap one-way interstellar travel becomes a possibility, and half of Sto Lat's population leaves permanently for Mars. Each person that leaves, takes takes some capital with them. Specifically, they are allowed to take the equivalent of the value of capital per capita with them. 5. A large asteroid hits Sto Lat. It kills half of the population and destroys 1/3 of the capital stock. 2 6. Cheap one-way interstellar travel becomes a possibility, and half of Sto Lat's population leaves permanently for Mars. They do not take any capital with them. After many years a return travel from Mars becomes possible. Half of the folks that left for Mars decide to permanently return to earth (bringing no capital with them).
