Clara Hayworth is a 22-year-old patient who presents to the office with shortness of breath with exertion and mild
chest pains. Her blood pressure is elevated. Dr. Babcock has ordered an EKG to be performed in the office. Denise
warmly greets Clara and explains the procedure. She provides Clara with a gown and steps out of the room while the
patient undresses. A couple of minutes later, Denise returns to the room with the EKG machine. As she is preparing
Clara for electrode placement, she notices that Clara has not removed her underwire bra. Denise says, "Oh, I am sorry, I
must have forgotten to mention that your bra must be removed for the test. I will step out of the room so that you can
have some privacy." Clara responds, "No, you told me. I just don't want to take it off. I want you to do the test, but I'm not
taking off my bra." Denise explains, "The test requires that the electrodes be placed right where your bra lies. It needs
to be removed. but I promise that I will make sure vou feel comfortable and modest during the test. In fact. I can
provide an additional sheet for draping and covering while I am placing the electrodes” *Did Denise respond appropriately to Clara’s comment?
