After reading the textbook and watching the TedTalk, I understand more about how our world is interconnected. This is not only happening through the migration of people to new countries but also because of the food we eat and clothes we wear. Through globalization, we are able to buy products that were designed and created oceans away which are shipped to our doorstep. Years ago, this would have been merely a hope, with no possible execution in sight, but is now the norm through companies like Etsy, Amazon, etc. Several questions arise because of this. Was it actually better in the past, when we bought everything locally? What are the pro's and con's of buying globally? What are practical steps we can take to increase our awareness of who is involved in processing the products we consume? Does it matter?
