For one of their planets, the client would like the planet to be the size of the Earth, with a somewhat elliptical orbit, but the expected temperature range on the planet stays between -50 F and 150 F (or between 227 K and 338 K) for most of the planet year round. The planet is very dry with almost no water. The density of the planet would be high enough to permit volcanoes, but they would not be very active. The planet would have an atmosphere that is only slightly denser than the earth's atmosphere, dominated by nitrogen, and argon, but with few greenhouse gases. There would be little oxygen, water, or methane in the atmosphere. ⢠Suggest in two or three paragraphs what you would expect the planet's geology could look like. ⢠Would the planet be able to support life? Why or why not. Justify your answer. ⢠Justify your arguments by comparison of the geology with features on with the Earth, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars.
