You are to choose an organization that uses personal selling. This must be a traditional brick brick-and-mortar or retail outlet that you can visit in person IN THE USA – it cannot be an online business. You are required to observe the sales techniques at this business for 1-2 hours. You may choose to observe for 1 hour one day and 1 hour on another day. The observation may include your experience as a customer, a potential customer, a shopper, or as a third party merely making sales observations. Be sure to take a notebook to record what you see. Try to observe more than 1 salesperson at the organization. Be sure to observe the customer reactions to the sales techniques that you observe. Look for techniques and strategies that we have discussed in class. Use terminology from our book in your summary. You will write a 250-word summary of your experience. This should be a learning experience for you. It may even serve as career exploration. Use this time to find out about a field where you have an interest and make some connections. Most professionals will be happy to help you to achieve your career goals. Every experience will not be exciting or fantastic, but it will be a real-life experience that you can take a lesson from.
