Scenario: After a long and extensive internal affairs investigation, in your police department, it was determined that corruption and substantiated civil liberties violations have eroded the trust between the citizens and the police. One of the many recommendations made in the internal affairs investigations was for the department to re-design the training curricula in both the police academy for new recruits, as well as in-service training covering the following core areas:

The organizational culture and its impact on its members
The impact that a police union can have on officer accountability and organizational reform, as well as public perception.
Issues surrounding formal occupational socialization versus informal socialization
The negative effects subculture issues can have on an organization’s members
What effect(s) that various "types of power" have on employee compliance with organizational rules, regulations, and legitimacy.

The Chief wants you to take the lead in developing a block of training specifically addressing these core areas highlighting some of the most relevant research findings, theories, and successful best practices used by other departments to address these same issues.

For this exercise you must do the following:

CREATE a PowerPoint slide presentation . This attached document will include the training outline you or other instructors can use to present this block of training to recruits and seasoned in-service officers. (per scenario above)
At the end of your training document, be sure to include a SUMMARY page – listing at least 5 key learning points that you want your students to take away from this training.
