Canada scores relatively high on masculinity (meaning that most people emphasize traditional gender roles) in comparison with countries such as Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, although its score is lower than that of the United States. You will notice regional differences. Western and Northern nations such as Canada and the Netherlands tend to be more individualistic. Poorer countries such as Mexico and the Philippines tend to be higher on power distance. South American nations tend to be higher than other countries on uncertainty avoidance, and Asian countries tend to have a long-term orientation. North and South America tend to show more indulgence, as does Western Europe. Restraint is characteristic of Eastern Europe, Asia, and the predominantly Muslim countries.
