The field of personal finance has recently boomed with new findings that connect behavioral psychology to our tendencies and actions. We would do better to understand these tendencies, as they can help us make better and more informed financial decisions. However, we also have to understand that we are not the only ones who have access to this information. Businesses are not below using behavioral psychology to nudge (or manipulate) buyers into opening their wallets a little wider.
Think hard about some real-world examples of how businesses use behavioral psychology. Give five different examples of how you have encountered this from in-person stores and merchants. Dedicate a paragraph to each example. Be sure to give at least a minimum explanation of how these tricks work on consumers to get them to buy.
