When negotiating, leadership abilities are employed to comprehend the interests of the people you are leading and to come up with solutions for achieving those objectives. Effective negotiators look for ways to meet the interests of the people they are leading to advance organizational objectives. There are six signature traits of inclusive leadership that one should have during the negotiation process. They are cognizance, curiosity, courage, cultural intelligence, commitment, and collaboration. (Deloitte, 2016)
Those six attributes are important to leverage for competitive advantage.
Commitment - Leaders that are highly inclusive are dedicated to diversity and inclusion because these goals mesh with their own beliefs and they see the business case for it.
Courage – Stands up and aren’t afraid to speak against status quo.
Cognizance – "mindful of personal and organizational blind spots. In addition, self-regulated to help ensure fairness." (Deloitte, 2016)
Curiosity – open minded
Cultural Intelligence – "Confident and Effective in cross-cultural interaction." (Deloitte, 2016)
Collaboration – ability to empower and foster creative thinking within a diverse group of people.
